How To Find Local Public Speaking Training That Best Meets Your Desired Goals & Outcomes

Rabu, 26 Agustus 2009

Finding local training is not usually a problem – but finding a training that will efficiently and cost-effectively meet your needs is a completely different matter.

That’s why I’ve put together some tips for you to help streamline your search for a local public speaking training that will actually meet your needs.

Tip #1:
Before you even start your search for local public speaking training, are you 100% clear about what your most desired goals, outcomes and results are? Imagine that you’ve already taken the public speaking training – what can you do now that you couldn’t do before the training? Make a detailed list of your goals and desired outcomes.

Tip #2:
What kind of time are you willing to invest in your training and how quickly do you need to reach your goals and desired outcomes? If your time is limited this is a critical question. Local adult night school classes might be good if you have no time to train during the day. Weekend intensive workshop trainings can be a better solution than night classes because the training is condensed to a short time frame.

Tip #3:
Look for a trainer who has a lot of public speaking and training experience. It’s one thing to be a great public speaker, it’s quite another to be able to train others to be great speakers. You need to find a trainer that has tons of real-world experience in public speaking, but also a long track record of training others.

Bonus Tip:
The absolutely best local public speaking training – or not local for that matter – will be small group workshop intensives. I’m talking about workshops that are 10 or less people in the training – and are entirely facilitated by the experienced public speaker / trainer. Think of it like taking a Karate class – you want The Master personally training you. And small-sized classes mean that won’t get lost in the crowd so you’ll be able to get all your questions answered and get lots of personal attention and feedback.

Summary:
When it comes to finding the best local public speaking for you, first determine what your goals and desired outcomes are so you can evaluate each training based on your goals and outcomes. Second you need to figure out what kind of time you want to devote to training. Third, look for trainers that not only have lots of public speaking experience, but have lots of teaching and training experience because great speakers are not necessarily great teachers. Finally, look for a workshop intensive with the group size limited to 10 people or less so you don’t get “lost in the crowd” and so that you’ll get lots of personal attention and feedback.

Franchising History – The History of Franchise

The first person to introduce a franchise agreement similar to the ones we have today was Isaac Singer, founder of the Singer Company. His agreements were unique and laid the foundation for the contracts we see today. His sewing machines were big sellers, but what he needed was local people in each territory to service / repair machines and supply spare parts for them. It was too costly and cumbersome to provide this service from headquarters. He franchised it out and this method of doing business proved to be so successful that soon the local franchisees were given the ability to also sell new machines.

Motor Industry Franchises

The next big businesses to use the franchise model were in the motor industry. Companies like General Motors sold franchises, so that they could expand their dealer network quickly and with less cost. Each franchisee was granted an exclusive territory so they knew that if they ran their business well, they would reap the rewards.

As other motor car manufacturers realized how fast General Motors dealership network was growing, they also started looking at franchising very closely and soon they launched their own franchise business models.

Fast Food Franchises

As other industries saw how successful this was in establishing a large network and selling more products, they started joining in. Fast Food reached the world quickly when McDonalds launched its franchise empire. Their fast food outlets were so successful that one can now buy a “Big Mac” in every corner of the globe!

Other companies like Kentucky Fried Chicken and Wimpy were also very quick to utilize the franchise model to reach new markets and gain more customers for their unique, profitable and inexpensive fast food products. Some of the early franchisees made millions very quickly through operating multiple territories with these companies.

British Franchise Association

Now franchising is a recognized form of doing business worldwide. Each country has their own rules and regulations governing this method of doing business. In the UK it is the British Franchise Association (bfa) that provides new franchisors with a set of rules and methods of conduct that they must follow before they can achieve BFA approved status.

International Franchise Association

In the USA, the International Franchise Association (IFA) helps regulate the industry and works closely with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). You can find out more about franchise laws in the USA by visiting the Federal Trade Commission’s website. One of their aims is to protect America’s consumers from fraudulent business schemes and they have issued guidelines for prospective franchisees.

Summary

From such small beginnings, franchising is now huge in the UK & USA! There are close to 150 thousand franchised establishments in the USA whilst in the UK there are thousands of established franchises and the numbers are expanding rapidly. Franchises are now providing so many jobs that the government is eager to help so that franchising continues to contribute to the growth of the economy.

There are so many different types of franchises available that there is a business model to suit every entrepreneurs needs. Ranging from internet websites, retail outlets and work from home opportunities, there is a franchise in almost every field of business. If you are searching for a franchise, find one that you will enjoy running and that suits your lifestyle.

When the Beauty Bali is every where, anyone can be Balinese in performance

As reported by Bali Discovery.Com (8/23/2009) Television commercial used to promote Malaysian tourism have instead promoted discord between Indonesia and Malaysia. The advertisement, part of the well-know "Malaysia, Truly Asia" campaign, featured a well-known Balinese traditional pendet dance, reportedly performed by two recent graduates of the Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) and filmed in Bali.

The broadcast commercials are seen in some Indonesian art circles as the latest slap in Indonesia's face by Malaysia, who regularly draw on Indonesian music and cultural icons to promote their national tourism.

Underlining local displeasure with these cultural borrowings, tens of Balinese artists staged a protest on Saturday, August 22, 2009, at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park in Bali. At the protest rally, Professor Wayan Dibia of the ISI presented a written statement against Malaysia's theft of Bali's cultural heritage to a representative of the local House of Representatives.

Quoted by the national news agency Antara, Dibia said: "Based upon our observation, the dancers shown in the Malaysian ad were in fact two graduates from the Indonesian Institute of Arts in Denpasar, named Lusia and Wiwik. The picture was taken by Bali Record two or three years ago."

In response, Ida Ayu Agung Mas of the House of Representatives said: "As a people's representative, I support the protest and will immediately notify the Malaysian government about the case."

The incident has reignited calls for the government to secure copyrights and patents on the icons of Indonesia's rich cultural heritage. In the past, Malaysian has been accused of arrogating Indonesian songs, dances and handicrafts - claiming them as part of the cultural heritage of their country.

China strengthens internal security force

Buffeted by rising domestic unrest and missteps in handling ethnic violence, China's leaders are asserting greater control over the country's main internal security force with a new law on how and when the troops are mobilized.

The law, set to be passed this week, will define the mission of the 660,000-member People's Armed Police, which serves mainly as a better-armed backup to the regular police. Its troops, distinguished by their red epaulets, guard public buildings and infrastructure, and even jogged alongside the Beijing Olympic torch during its contentious journey around the world last year.

Most prominently, PAP troops were used to subdue rioters in Tibetan areas last year after violence there that left at least 18 people dead. They were used again last month when indigenous Turkic Muslims, called Uighurs, clashed with migrants from China's ethnic Han majority in the far western region of Xinjiang, leaving almost 200 dead - China's worst ethnic violence in decades.

President Hu Jintao visited with PAP, police and army troops in Xinjiang on Tuesday, telling them to make "upholding social stability the most urgent task."

Details of the law have not been released, but the official Xinhua News Agency said it would designate the PAP as responsible for dealing with "riots, unrest, large-scale violent crimes, and terrorist attacks," while limiting their powers of search and seizure.

A standing committee of the National People's Congress, China's legislature, said it is expected to pass the law on Thursday.

Niken Prathivi and Irawaty Wardany , The Jakarta Post , DENPASAR /JAKARTA | Sun, 08/23/2009 11:45 AM | Headlines

The presence of Balinese dancing and a leather shadow puppet in a Malaysian tourism ad has once again upset Indonesians, who are saying it is an attempt to claim the art forms as their own.

A member of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) and Balinese dance experts staged a
protest Saturday against the Malaysian government at the Denpasar Arts Center.

“We have all heard of some aspect of the Indonesian culture that has been claimed by Malaysia as theirs, such as the wayang [Javanese puppet], batik and reog Ponorogo [masked dance from East Java],” said counselor Ida Ayu Agung Mas, referring to similar controversial reports.

“This time, they are trying to claim the Pendet, which is a sacred and original dance from Bali, as
their own.

“As a representative for the DPD, the Group of Indonesian Youth Concerned with Culture and Arts, and experts on Balinese dances, I will send a letter of protest to the Malaysian government through their embassy in Indonesia,” Ida Ayu said at the protest, attended by some 10 people.

The Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia earlier denied the country had made claims on batik and other forms of Indonesian culture in its tourism campaigns. Malaysia’s Ambassador Dato Zainal Abidin Zain was quoted as saying in late 2007 that the Javanese brought the reog dance to Malaka.

The Pendet dance featuring in the latest controversial commercial has become a welcome dance. Each dancer carries a customary bowl filled with flowers, to be strewn to the audience.

Gde Pitana I, the Cultural and Tourism Ministry’s director general of foreign promotion, said it was fine to show the Pendet dance in the ads, as long as they did not mention the dance was from Malaysia.

“We often display the Barongsai in our tourism ads, but we never claim it as ours,” Pitana wrote
on the ministry’s website on Saturday.

The Barongsai is the dragon dance whose popularity was revived after the government ended the decades-old ban on display of Chinese-influenced culture and language.

Pitana said the Cultural and Tourism Ministry had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Justice and Human Rights Ministry for the intellectual rights protection of cultural and art products.

“I expect all regions and provinces to register their local as well as individual cultural and art pieces to the ministry of justice,” he said.

A facebooker’s status as of Saturday read in English: “Indonesia’s tourism ministry is grossly incompetent. They can’t even come up with a decent tourism promotion campaign. No wonder Malaysia and tiny Singapore attract more tourists.”

From tweetfeed: “Malaysia claimed Bali’s pendet dance as their culture, and Malaysia has given [us]Noordin M. [Top],” in reference to the region’s most wanted terrorist suspect, a Malaysian national.
